I have 4 erectus seahorses and 2 male reidii seahorses. I have been struggling with them for the last month and need your advice regarding ongoing management.
While I was out of town one of the male reidii seahorses had progressive hyoid bone protrusion and died. Then the other male reidii started to have pale patches on his pouch, white stringy stools, and poor feeding and a ?weaker snick. I suspected parasite infection and treated the whole tank this week with General Cure - 2 treatments 48 hrs apart and then partial water change and replacement of the charcoal filter yesterday
During this week the male reidii looks better and the pale pouch patches have gone. He does however have an area of skin above his pouch that looks unusual - ?scarred skin. He is eating well again. However, one of my older (3yr) erectus males became progressively lethargic and stopped eating and swimming much. I tube fed him for 2 days and ultimately he died. Now his mate is looking the same - not eating and staying hitched away from the rest of the herd and not swimming around. I don't see any abnormalities externally. She has an unusual breathing pattern where every 4th or 5th breath is shorter and deeper. I tube fed her last night but she looks no better today.
I am not sure where to go from here...Should I continue treatment for parasites? Additional treatment? I have video of the seahorse breathing but not sure how to send it....
Thanks in advance for you help.
