Mo'Olio (Hippocampus histrix) (?)

This seahorse is endemic to the Hawiian Islands and is thought to be Hippocampus kuda. It is a small seahorse with a small mouth and very very small fry. This species seems to be a pelagic seahorse as it is often found by off shore night fisherman! It is has been bred by the Waikik Aquairum but is very challenging to breed and to care for. For this reason this seahorse will be seen only at our Visitor Center!
