Dear Michael:
I don’t have any personal experience keeping Duncan corals (Duncanopsammia axifuga) with seahorses, sir, but I can provide you with some general guidelines regarding seahorses and LPS corals.
The LPS corals that pose a risk to seahorses are primarily aggressive species with sweeper tentacles and powerful nematocysts capable of delivering a nasty sting.
Duncan corals do not fit that description. They are considered to be a peaceful LPS coral that lacks sweeper tentacles and does not have a potent sting. As such, I suspect that the seahorses would do well with Duncan corals, so that’s an experiment I think you can go ahead and try, Michael.
Seahorses also do well with soft corals and gorgonians, in general, as well as many SPS corals.
Best of luck with your new seahorse setup, sir!
Respectfully,
Pete Giwojna, Ocean Rider Tech Support
