Okay, that makes sense. Lowering the level of the water in the reaction chamber of the protein skimmer is one way to tweak the unit so that it is producing dry foam and not releasing excess microbubbles into the aquarium. Hopefully, that will prevent a recurrence of any problems with gas bubble syndrome.
