Dear Pete,
First, please let me again say thank you for your gernerous help. I really do appreciate it as do so many others on this site.
I took your advice and did a freshwater dip for about 10 minutes on my reidis (adjusted the pH with baking soda as per your directions). They seemed to take the freshwater dip quite well, but I did notice anything "fluke-like" in the water after the dip. (Of course, I realize that I am not a professional so maybe there was something there and I just missed it or it was too small for me to see with the naked eye).
I have had the nitrates down to about 5 ppm or less for the last 24 hours, but the respiration of my reidis is still high. However, each of my erectus continue to be just fine. If the reidis rapid respiration was due to high nitrates, do you think it will be a few more days before they will start breathing normally again? Or at this point should I be thinking of treating for something else…maybe metronidazole for parasites or some bifuran?
Thanks so much for your advice!
Tom
