Pete — thanks for your reply. My horse, which is a yellow Brazilian Reidi, is still alive and I have seen him eat a little. This morning there seemed to be a scuffle between him and my mustang . . . I think he somehow must have strangled the mustang as I don’t see any eye movement or breathing in him. I gently lifted the mustang onto some coral and I am keeping a close watch on him. Maybe he is just playing possum. You mentioned a possible poisoning. Have you ever heard of "Joe’s Juice?" It is used to eliminate Aiptasia(sp). The only warning it has is not to feed valuable anemones. It says it is reef safe. I have an aiptasia problem in my seahorse tank so my aquarium person used this. Do you think it could a the source of poisoning?
Second, I don’t understand the whole concept of a hospital tank. I do have a 10 gallon tank and a supply of salt water but how do you make the conditions in the hospital tank the same as the main tank, i.e., temperature, water quality, etc. As I am sure you have gathered, I am novice at this . . . I have two books on Seahorses but they are no help when it comes to problems. I am ordering the book you recommended but it won’t be here for several days.
Thank you for your wonderful advice and for being so patient. I very much want this tank for work out . . . it was purchased specifically for Seahorses (56 gallon–tall) and I believe it is set up very nicely. Again, thank you and I look forward to your reply.
