Sounds like you have quite a bit of experience and should do well with seahorses.
They are really not all that difficult and quite a bit of fun.
The metal halides can be used for seahorses as long as you give them some shade to retreat to when they want to. The problem as you are probably aware is the heat created by the halides. If you can keep your tank under 77 degrees you should be fine. If you are planning on keeping the horses with the frags be sure there is nothing that stings or that can be damaged by the seahorses hitching to it. We usually recommend keeping seahorses with soft corals, like leathers, polyps, and mushrooms.
