Dear Tammy:
Okay, I understand the situation now — the centipede powerheads are segmented so that they can be adjusted and pointed in various directions, but they are built-in as part of the wet/dry filter and therefore cannot be removed or shifted to another location.
There are a lot of sponge filters and foam filter material available these days, designed specifically for use in aquariums, and the only thing I can suggest under the circumstances would be to wrap enough of this type of foam around the centipede powerheads so that the seahorse can no longer perch on them. If you can build up the diameter of the padded powerheads until it’s too big for him to wrap his tail around and grasp, hopefully he wouldn’t be able to cling to them and would have to make use of the hitching posts near the bottom instead. I don’t know how feasible that would be, or how much the padded powerheads might detract from the beauty of your aquarium, but that’s the only thing that comes to mind offhand…
Best of luck persuading your stubborn stallion to adopt another hitching post as his favorite, Tammy!
Happy Trails!
