Hi Cherie,
Welcome!
Congratulations on your new seahorses. To be honest I am not surprised you have not had help from the breeder. Selling 6 week old seahorses to a novice is not really in anyone’s best interest…..yours or the seahorses. Most breeders do not release their seahorses for sale before 6 months.
When you say the largest being around 3, I am assuming you mean 3 inches. This is rather large a 6 week old seahorse. Did you mean 6 months?
I am glad to hear they are eating and active.
If they are 2 to 3 inches they should be able to eat the red shrimp. You do not need any filter to keep the red shrimp. They can be kept nicely in a small tank. I like to use an air pump with an airline, but it is not necessary.
A close up, clear and well-focused photo would be the most helpful for ID purposes……preferably a profile. If they are truly 6 weeks old they may be difficult to ID.
Seahorses can and do interbreed so yes would be possible for them to breed with ORs if you purchased a pair, however at 6 weeks old they are not sexually mature.
HTH,
Leslie
