The LFS as well as places like Dr. Foster and Smith carry all sorts of plastic and silk green plants as well as beautiful faux corals.
I prefer live to faux décor these days and use mostly red macros with lots of colorful mushrooms, but you probably do not want live if you are still feeding bbs.

No sir you do not need a special camera. I currently use a digital SLR, the Canon D10 and prior to that used a 35mm Canon EOS. Actually many of my first digital photos were shot a very basic low resolution camera, one of the first Sony MAVICAs on the market. That first camera only had auto focus. I mostly use auto focus now and have really never had trouble focusing through the glass. I do however find focusing through acrylic much more difficult. Try cleaning the inside and outside of the glass really well. The auto focus feature will be “confused” by marks or interference on the glass and will try to focus on those instead of your subject. If you have the option perhaps try manual focus.
