Dear Pat:
Congratulations on getting your fry to the two-week mark!
It sounds like you have devised a nifty method for delivering newly-hatched brine shrimp to the fry continuously, and your in-tank nursery design should have good biological filtration to ensure good water quality. But you have to keep a close eye out for hydroids with that type of nursery tank! The presence of live rock and soft corals plus continuous feedings of newly-hatched brine shrimp is a pretty good recipe for raising hydroids and hydromedusae, which will decimate the fry if they become established in your nursery. But if you can just avoid the dreaded ‘droids and keep the breeder net scrupulously clean on the inside, that could be a successful arrangement. Please keep us posted on your progress with your latest brood.
Best of luck raising your Sunburst fry, Pat!
Happy Trails!
