Dear hobbyist:
Now that’s more like it! With a height of about 20 inches (50 cm) and a capacity of nearly 70 gallons (265 L), your new aquarium should be much more successful than its undersized predecessor.
I would be very happy to provide you with detailed instructions for getting your new aquarium up and running and optimizing it to create ideal conditions for your Indonesian seahorses, but it will be helpful if you can tell me which seahorse species you will be keeping. Indonesia is home to a number of different seahorses, most notably Hippocampus kuda and H. barbouri, and they have somewhat different aquarium requirements.
If you’re not certain what species your Indonesian seahorses are, then if you can describe their size and key characteristics for me (spininess, size and shape of their coronet, color pattern), I can provide you with much more specific information about their care and breeding habits in the aquarium.
Please contact me off list ([email protected]) and I will get back to you right away with loads of information about your new seahorses and how to prepare your aquarium to meet their needs. (Some of the files are too large to post on this forum.)
Best wishes with all your fishes!
Happy Trails!
