Hi Alex,
Yes the sponge filters should be just fine.
The fresh water cycled sponges will not work in salt water the bacteria is different. You will need to re cycle the sponges.
The set up sounds fine with the exception of the live rock. Untreated live rock plus brine shrimp equals hydroids in a very short time. You will need to treat the live rock with pancur or heat prior to using it in a dwarf tank.
