Thank you Pete. That seems to be what’s going on. My first male is the “boss” of the tank and he knows it. He is pretty big but the female is almost as big so i would think she’d stand her ground lol. I did add another shell this morning but she came down after the rest of the herd had their fill so i’ll leave it in there for now and we’ll see how it goes.
My second pair are pretty much exactly as you described. They are both very outgoing with the female doing most of the exploring all day long. They both recognize me when i come up to the tank and brighten up. I use a turkey baster to feed them with and they figured out that baster by second feeding after they arrived lol. The male will hitch to it while i’m putting shrimp in the shells. Thank you again for your information on target feeding also. The shy female isn’t skinny by any means so i don’t think i’ll be needing to hand feed her at the moment but it’s always nice to have the info if i ever need it in the future.
