Dear Chloe:
Do you mean the city of Estevan in Saskatchewan, Canada?
If so, it may be difficult for you to obtain seahorses, Chloe. The entire genus Hippocampus (all seahorses) was placed under the protection of Appendix II of the CITES regulations a few years ago. As a result, the convention on the international trade in endangered species now requires special permits in order to import or export seahorses.
Unfortunately, Ocean Rider only ships seahorses within the continental United States, so you won’t be able to order seahorses from this site in Canada.
Your best bet may be to ask the major pet stores in your area if they can possibly obtain seahorses. One species of seahorse — the Lined seahorse or Northern Giant (Hippocampus erectus) — occasionally ventures as far North as parts of Nova Scotia, so it’s possible that these seahorses may sporadically be available in Canadian pet stores since they do not have to be imported.
Let me know if you are able to find a source for seahorses in Canada, Chloe, and I will be happy to help you set up a suitable aquarium for the seahorses.
Best of luck on your quest for Canadian seahorses, Chloe!
Happy Trails!
