Or… at least it does in my horses! I bought a piece of red poster board today and taped it to the back of my seahorse tank to see if I could inspire some color changes… I didn\’t get any color changes. But all of the horses started swimming around checking out this new change. They were hovering over the back of the tank like they were window shopping! Then they were happily looking for dinner…. unfortunatley it is fast day and I am feeding brine and they aren\’t all that excited about the brine.
But it was interesting behavior to observe! I wanted to get purple, but they didn\’t have purple, they had florecent orange, which was hideous, and light blue and the red. (along with green, black and white) Do you think the blue would do better than the red? Or the awful orange? They seem happier now that there is more color…. red is a mood enhancing color, you know!

When it comes to hitching posts, I have found that bright red, orange, and yellow generally work well for keeping seahorses looking their best and brightest. I’m not sure if that applies to aquarium backgroundstoo or not, but don’t hesitate to experiment until you find the right color combination that works for your seahorses.
Best wishes with all your fishes, Carrie!
Happy Trails!

I kinda laugh now when I hear about seahorse stress I have 4 OR’s and noone can possibly remodel a tank as much as I do. Everytime I change anything around my guys are all over me hanging onto my fingers, arms and instruments. When I finally get finished. They are all over the tank in awe of the things that were moved around, added or removed. They have got to be the nosiest and most curious little fellows I have ever dealt with. Noone ever seems stressed over the changes, just fascinated over the new additions.:lol:November 24, 2006 at 6:02 am #3095Saint2966GuestCarrie, I enjoyed reading your post on the behaviour change in your horses.
