Welcome aboard!
Unfortunately, due to the paperwork and permits that are required when importing or exporting seahorses these days, Ocean Rider only ships their livestock within the continental United States, so you’ll have to obtain your domesticated seahorses elsewhere.
However, I know exactly who you should contact on your side of the pond to find a reliable source for captive-bred-and-raised seahorses — Neil Garrick-Maidment. He is the Director of the Seahorse Trust in the UK, a very accomplished breeder of numerous seahorse species, and the author of both Seahorses: Conservation & Care and the Practical Fish-Keeper’s Guide to Seahorses. If you contact me off list, I will be happy to provide you with Neil’s e-mail address. You can reach me at [email protected] any time.
Best wishes with all your fishes, umzo!
Happy Trails!

January 16, 2007 at 11:34 pm #3294Pete GiwojnaGuestDear Wendy:
Two good sources for captive-bred-and-raised seahorses in the UK are Seahorse Ireland and Simply Seahorses. Between the two of them, they offer a very nice assortment of different domesticated seahorses.
If you go to the URL listed below, you can check out the different seahorses offered by Seahorse Ireland:
Click here: Seahorse Ireland – The world’s first successful seahorse cultivation and research enterprise.
http://www.seahorseireland.com/Simply Seahorses is run by Helen and Nigel Gill, who are distributing livestock from Seahorse Australia in the UK. You can contact Helen and Nigel at the following e-mail address: [email protected]
And you can check out their online site at the following URL:
http://www.simplyseahorses.co.uk/
Seahorse keepers in the UK should be able to find the perfect ponies for their needs and interests from either Seahorse Ireland or Simply Seahorses, Wendy.
Best wishes with all your fishes, Wendy!
Happy Trails!
