OK, well today I walked up and my dwarf’s were doing the mating dance so I grabbed the camera. There were several interruptions from other tank mates and family members in the home but they finally got together.
I cut the video down to 14mb, two minutes showing a few seconds before the egg transfer to after. Bit of a glare problem but it is ok for my first time catching them.
You can find the video link on my seahorse page

Be sure to right click and save the video and do not use quicktime to watch it. It works fine in all players but that one, I do not know why.

Outstanding! I know from personal experience how difficult it is to film amorous seahorses while they are in the act, most especially the tiny dwarfs, which are no bigger than your thumbnail when they’re fully grown. Your video does a great job of showing how much the stallions inflate their brood pouches in order to receive the eggs, and how much vertical swimming space our ponies require in order to mate comfortably. Very nice video footage of a successful mating attempt and egg transfer, sir – you really captured the copulatory rise exceptionally well!
Best wishes with all your fishes, David! Keep up the great work with your prolific pint-size ponies!
Happy Trails!
