Hi Pete,
I want to thank you for talking to my sister Robin while her Romeo and Lyra were sick. She told me that you were awesome and asked me to give you my business. I am starting my own seahorse tank and have been taking your lessons which she forwarded to me.I can\’t wait. I am interested in your Deluxe Special, the two Mustangs and the two Sunbursts. I already have a reef tank set up and am now very interested in a seahorse tank. When the time is right, I will order these horses from you. I am currently on lesson 3. Your articles are wonderful and descriptive and fun to read. I love the way you describe things.
I will be in touch and thank you again for helping Robin through a very stressful and very difficult time. She was really attached to those horses. I definitely should have done more research before giving her the seahorses. My bad. I look forward to learning from you.

Thank you for all the kind words! I was more than happy to give Robin all of the help and support I could muster, and Robin was extremely diligent and devoted in her care for Romeo and Lyra, but ultimately there was nothing more we could do to save them. That’s just a shame because Robin certainly deserved a better outcome, but she was fighting a losing battle right from the start…
Regardless of the events that transpired, I must say that the aquarium was a heckuva great birthday gift, Liisa. The 24-gallon Biocube is a very smart, compact aquarium system with efficient filtration — a very nice package, indeed, for a reef tank. But it has some drawbacks when it comes to seahorses and requires some substantial modifications to make it more suitable as a seahorse tank. That can be done successfully and Robin was on the right track in that regard, but the Hippocampus kelloggi seahorses have been nothing but trouble for hobbyists. If Robin is willing to try again at some point, we’ll make sure that she has a good set up for her ponies as well as highly domesticated seahorses that are very well suited for beginners, and I am sure she will be successful.
Given your background as a reefkeeper, Liisa, I have no doubt that you would do well with cultured seahorses. The lessons in the training program will explain everything you need to know to keep and raise seahorses successfully, and I will be happy to work with you and Robin personally as you make all of your preparations. You can contact me off list ([email protected]) anytime you have any questions or concerns. Let me know when you have completed all the lessons, or if you need any of the lessons to be resent, and I will see that you and Robin are certified for finishing the training course. Once your seahorse tank is ready and you have received the training certificate, you can order your seahorses anytime.
Best wishes with all your fishes (and invertebrates), Liisa!
Respectfully,
Pete Giwojna -
